Southern Beach Style: The HinesSightBlog Collection on Great.ly

We just got back from vacation at Topsail Beach, N.C.

Topsail Beach, N.C.

If you're new to the blog, I've been going to Topsail Beach with my husband's family for almost 15 years. We skipped a few years because of friends getting married from time to time, but we've been going to same beach house, Beach Place, Too, for 10 years straight. Here's my post from our 6th summer, the year I started my blog in 2011 and here's the post from 2013. We basically did the same things, even saw the same cat.

I captured the above photo on the rental's deck after a huge thunderstorm last week. I sipped a lot of N.C. wine. Yes, I'm still working on my N.C. wine story which I hope to have complete by next week, if not before.

We really don't do much while we are vacationing at Topsail, but that is what we love most about going there. I get out of my obligated travel writing mode, and just take personal photos of the kids and play around with social media once or twice a day. OK. I have a lot of accounts, so maybe three times a day.

We spend quality time with Will's family, and our kids are finally at an age where they are easier to take on vacation or at least on this type of vacation. Ask me how I feel after our  D.C. trip in July.

On this trip, the kids kept up with their older cousins easily, slept well, ate well, and behaved well. In fact, they basically showered themselves or showered with a cousin's assistance.  It really did seem like a vacation. They had a blast, too. We all did.

I think Liza learned her new "peace" sign stance from her cousin who she adores.  This year, I wore a hat and almost returned as white as I was when I arrived. We kept umbrellas up all the time. That's OK. After Will's melanoma diagnosis and treatment, we are more cautious.

I'll be thinking of these wonderful family memories all summer, and that's why I think it is the perfect time to announce my new HinesSightBlog collection with great.ly. I was encouraged by Katja Presnal of Skimbaco Lifestyle to curate my own favorites from designers around the globe. There is also a Skimbaco Lifestyle store curated by Katja.  For the HinesSightBlog collection,  I've personally selected items that reflect my personal style. I've curated items from Southern designers as well as European designers.I have a coffee and tea shop as well as a cat section. Yes, I used to collect cat items from my travels before I got married and ran out of space. I've had a lot of fun with this project.

I've always been a fan of handmade jewelry, and wore handmade jewelry from little boutiques before it became fashionable. I'm very excited about my curated collection. A few pieces are have already been marked down this week as a Great.ly special. Definitely browse through all the categories.  In this blog post, I'm highlighting the "Southern Beach Days" pop-up shop.

My wine glass would have looked great with these coasters on the deck. In my boutique, you'll find red, orange, yellow, and blue. They are made by designer Chyrstal Simmons of Kansas City. Missouri. The blue and red together would be great for a 4th of July party.
