Friday Fun: Royal Sparkle

I stayed up way too late last night.  I was on Twitter about 10:00 PM.  A tweet about the Duchess of Cambridge's official royal debut came across my screen.  I clicked on it, and then spent another half hour looking at different news sites which showed the very same photos.  I learned or saw nothing new. I don't know why I do this to myself, but I think it goes back to when I was in TV news, and my assignment editor would make the reporters look at all the other channels and newspapers to see if they reported anything that we didn't get, I mean know.   However, I am now very knowledgeable about the event that Prince William, and his wife of six weeks,  attended.  Go ahead!  Ask me anything.  I even know what they dined on at this expensive fundraiser for the 10th anniversary of ARK (Absolute Return for Kids) Charity.

But, back to the dress that has me bleary-eyed this morning. I think the Duchess dazzled in her official royal debut since the April 29 nuptials.  She has been seen in public at events since her wedding,  but last night's fundraiser was the first event where she is considered a working royal, and represents the Queen.

Catherine stepped out in a Jenny Packham gown.  I imagine the British wedding gown designer is getting a lot more "likes" on her Facebook page this morning.

I think they are a dashing couple, and after seeing these photos,  I am a  little excited about their upcoming tour to North America.  It will be fun to see what this new royal star brings in her luggage.   And for my serious readers, you may read a copy of Prince William's speech here.

Another royal sparkler is Prince Philip.  He celebrates his 90th birthday today.   Yesterday, The DailyMail, put together some of his hilarious remarks as a tribute to him.

In an interview with the BBC,  he says going to "slow down a bit"  He says,  "I've done my bit so I want to enjoy myself a bit now, with less responsibility, less frantic rushing about, less preparation, less trying to think of something to say.

"On top of that your memory's going, I can't remember names and things.

"It's better to get out before you reach the sell-by date."

I don't know if some of the remarks he made in the DailyMail tribute to him are actually "correct", but they sure had me laughing.   My favorite was a remark he made at some point about his daughter, Princess Anne.  As you have read, the royal family likes their horses.  He apparently said, "If it doesn't fart or eat hay then she isn't interested."

Have a good weekend!  Until next time, I'm off to get more tea.
